Why Attend Conferences?

What We Learned from a Week in Paris & Munich

At Collabora Productivity, we don’t just develop great open-source solutions – we actively engage with the communities that use and shape them. Attending conferences isn’t just about showing off our technology, it’s about strengthening partnerships, gathering real-world feedback, and ensuring our solutions truly meet the needs of businesses, governments, and academia.

In a busy week in March we attended two key events – Documation in Paris and CS3 in Munich, connecting with partners, customers, and open-source advocates. Whether it’s supporting European digital sovereignty[link to EU post if published] or empowering academia with scalable, self-hosted document collaboration, these gatherings are essential for building a stronger, more integrated open-source ecosystem.

Documation Paris: Strengthening Ties with Jalios & the French Public Sector

At Documation, we were part of the Jalios Village, a dedicated space for Jalios’ partners offering seamless integrations for document collaboration, enterprise content management, and digital workplace solutions. It was fantastic to engage with attendees, but just as valuable was the opportunity to deepen our relationships with Jalios and its ecosystem of integrators.

Jalios already provides tens of thousands of French government users with Collabora Online, and our growing collaboration will ensure an even more integrated, efficient, and secure document editing experience for public and private sector organizations alike.

CS3 Munich: Academic Growth & Customer Insights

Hosted by LMU Physics in Munich, this year’s CS3 conference saw a big increase in large-scale academic deployments of Collabora Online over the past year – reinforcing the demand for scalable, self-hosted, and privacy-respecting document collaboration in research institutions.

Our CEO Michael Meeks delivered a talk on “Scalable, Secure, Seamlessly Integrated Document Editing“, discussing how Collabora Online continues to evolve to meet the needs of universities, research centres, and cloud providers.

Beyond the presentation, we received valuable product feedback from customers, helping us refine our roadmap to better serve academic and enterprise users alike. And of course, we must thank our gracious hosts at LMU for a stunning venue, complete with organ pipes – everything a tech conference needs!

Collaboration in Action

Both conferences reinforced the importance of partnership, open-source innovation, and user-driven development. Whether working alongside Jalios in the French public sector, or supporting universities across Europe, Collabora Online continues to be at the heart of privacy-first, self-hosted document collaboration.
