COOL Days 2024 Wrap-Up: On your marks, get set, go!

Thank you to all who attended our COOL Days 2024 meet-up in Cambridge on 8th-11th April – it was a pleasure to host many who had attended previously, and lots of new faces too! We had so much fun organising the event for our partners, the Collabora team, and the Open Source community.If you haven’t had the chance to make it to Cambridge, why not have a look at our video summary, which gives you a taste of our incredible time there!

COOL Days took place at the Møller Institute, a part of Churchill College, one of the newer Cambridge colleges. We started off with a thrilling team-building activity, building and racing go-karts in a Soap Box Derby, and then proceeded to the Møller Institute for a delicious buffet.

Technical Days

And now you all must be wondering: “How many lighting talks could we fit in two days?” – the answer is 93! We were live streaming from Cambridge and our schedule was brimming with in-person and remote presentations, featuring exciting conversations about the work the Collabora Online team, community, and partners have been developing throughout the last year across Europe and the world.

Partner Workshop

On Wednesday afternoon, we held Partner Workshops. We collected data and insights from our partners on the Collabora Online landscape and where we can focus future developments with our roadmap. We also had many open discussions with them about how to support them and work together even more successfully.

 

Hackfest

Alongside this, we also held a Hackfest for everyone who participates in the LibreOffice Technology community. Many hours were spent coding in person, learning from each other, and fixing bugs with other community members.

Social Events

We also ensured we had opportunities for team building to allow others to get to know other members of the team through our exciting Soap Box Derby contest, an Astronomy Talk at the Cambridge Institute of Astronomy, and, of course, enjoying delicious meals and evening drinks together!
